It should be noted that the uterus, placenta, blood volume, and fluid increase during pregnancy, so a diet should be designed keeping in mind all these things. The possibility of depletion of maternal nutrition increases during pregnancy. It’s easy to deal with all situations if you follow a healthy and balanced diet. Mothers should always remember this that they need to eat for two people and should not skip meals. This does not mean that they overeat because it is a fact that mothers get more burden because of a heavy diet which results in complications at birth. Pre-eclampsia is one of the complications that can occur at birth due to a heavy pregnancy diet.

Fruits and vegetables

At least 5-7 servings of fruits and vegetables must be included in the pregnancy diet in a day. It offers essential vitamins, fiber, iron and minerals. All of this is important for the nutrition and growth of your baby. Different fruit or vegetable salads make your food more interesting and delicious.

Protein

To build tissue, hormones, enzymes and antibodies for mother and baby are very important for the intake of protein-rich foods. Good sources of protein are nuts, beans and meat. Also, it’s better to include several types of seafood in your diet. For vegetarian mothers, nuts, beans and milk are the best sources of protein.

Whole grain products

Whole Wheat Products such as rice, bread, pasta and cereals contain vitamins, minerals, iron, folic acid, and carbohydrates. All of this is important for mother and baby. It’s good to have at least 5 servings of whole wheat products every day.

Salt and water

To maintain blood volume, you must include adequate amounts of salt in your food during pregnancy. Besides salt, it is necessary to drink lots of water every day because water helps to dispose of body wastes and toxic substances quickly and also helps increase blood volume.

Yogurt and Cheese

We know that some mothers hate milk and there is good news for mothers like that that they can choose cheese, yogurt, and other alternatives instead of drinking a glass of milk. However, it must be mentioned here that milk is an important and good source of calcium for both mother and baby.
